BIO Farm Interview

BIO Farm Interview

Here is a brief interview with the manager of the farm. She is very nice and warm welcome us.

IMBA: What’s organics in your opinion?
BIO Farm: Organics is to grow vegetables out of an uncontaminated land without using any chemical pesticides / fertilizers or growth hormones.

IMBA: How large is your farm?
BIO Farm: Our farm is no more than 100 acres in space.

IMBA: What kind of vegetables do you have?
BIO Farm: We have more than18 different species of organic sprouts, which are the first certified sprouts in China under BIOFarm's R&D program.
A favorite of chefs, these organic sprouts are routinely supplied, seasonings, and even organic plants used for Chinese traditional medicines. Most importantly, by collecting the organic seeds of nearly 30 plant species, BIOFarm has set up the first seed bank of organic vegetables in China.

IMBA: Who is your customer?
BIO Farm: We sell organics products to only our CSA members. The process to select our member is very hard. So, we have only strong members. We have been in a good relation for a long time.
We will deliver our vegies twice a week. The members can’t choose the vegie they like. Vegies in every basket will be the same for each of members.

IMBA: How many members do you have?
BIO Farm: Right now we have about 400 members which is quite a lot. Although they can’t choose the vegies they like but they still choose to be our member, because they believe in our products.

IMBA: Do you sell to any other places beside CSA members?
BIO Farm: Yes, We sell to Hi-End local Market and The Hotel.

IMBA: How do you deliver your products?
BIO Farm: We have our own bus to deliver the products.

IMBA: Do you have your own packaging and brand?
BIO Farm: Yes, We have our own packaging and we have separate packing room. We do have the brand like others.

IMBA: Have you ever get complaint about the vegies?
BIO Farm: Not much, but customer used to complain about the freshness of the vegies when it gets to their house. Sometimes it’s too dry because of the logistics, but we have already fix it.

IMBA: Do you have planned to grow or expand in the future?
BIO Farm: We want to grow our farm slowly healthy and sustainable.
